OAKTON

On the grounds of a wooded estate in Northern Virginia lies a tropical resort replete with a sunken pool and dining cabanas. The client has no need to escape the searing Summers of the South with a Caribbean-style environment in their backyard. The cool textures of teak, steel and stone are in contrast to the bold black and white stripes of the umbrellas. Bright royal blue and coral was purposely chosen to add a striking accent to the otherwise neutral pallet. The space was deliberately divided into several areas of function to allow sunbathing lounging and dining in various locations. The piece the resistance is the steel roof cabaña with a wood burning fireplace. As the sun goes down in the air cools this is a perfect place for a late supper around a warm fire.
