GREAT FALLS

GREAT FALLS

In the tony enclave of Great Falls in Northern Virginia is a small lake on a wooded parcel at the end of the winding country Lane. The lake in the woods with the inspiration for this guest house overlooking the water.

The neutral pallet was chosen to allow the forest, and all the seasons of the year, to provide color and dimension to the space. The long rectangular room was divided by woven linen panels to create a semi private sleeping and lounge area. The clients love of contemporary furnishings was acknowledged by the use of several classic designs by Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe.. The design also carefully mixes several Biedermeier inspired pieces to add warmth and interest.

Reminiscent of the nature around the guest house, high contrast was used to divide areas. Dark wood floors with linen patterned area rugs highlight the division of spaces.
